It is a well known fact that the newly launched Ford EcoSport has managed to garner plenty of rave reviews from auto hacks and car buyers alike. The EcoSport has been launched at a price that undercuts that of some of the premium hatchbacks and entry level sedans and all this has helped the compact crossover with coming across as an even more attractive option for the car buyers.
It has now emerged that such has been response to the new car that the car has managed to get 25000 bookings with 17 days of launch! This is quite a mean feat, especially when you consider that Ford India sold about just 75,500 cars during last fiscal.
The booking amount for the car is INR 50000 and we are already hearing of waiting periods of as high as three months.
The buyers of the Ford EcoSport get as many as three engine variants to choose from-
- The entry level engine variant of EcoSport is powered by the same 1.5 litre normally aspirated petrol motor that powers the new Fiesta sedan. The 1.5 litres petrol engine can be ordered with either a 5 speed manual transmission or a 6 speed auto’ transmission.
- The diesel engine variant, and the one which is responsible for bringing all those sales volumes, is powered by the Fiesta’s 1.5 litre turbocharged diesel engine.
- The second petrol engine variant is powered by the much hyped Ford EcoBoost 1.0 litre turbo petrol engine. No auto box for the EcoBoost.
