Mini has revealed the interior of the new generation Cooper EV. The carmaker has described its interior as “more Mini than ever before”.
The new generation Cooper Electric will use the new platform with a Front-Wheel-Drive system. This platform is built with the joint venture of BMW and Great Wall Motor.
What’s new inside the Mini Cooper Electric?

The new Mini Cooper EV gets a funky-looking interior with a clean dashboard layout. However, the carmaker is following the trend of reducing the usage of physical buttons. With this interior, the new-gen Mini Cooper looks fresh and upmarket in design.
Meanwhile, the center console of the dashboard features the new circular-shaped display. This display is likely to work as an infotainment system as well as showing the status of the Air Conditioning System.
However, the carmaker has introduced the new Operating System in the infotainment system. The new infotainment system gets new graphics and a funky new theme. The carmaker has replaced the digital cluster with a heads-up display that shows vehicle speed, range, directions, charging, etc.
Apart from this, the interior of the new Mini Cooper EV gets ambient LED lightning with various patterns. These LED lights are integrated into the dashboard of the car. However, the Climate Control can be operated via the toggle switches.
The new Cooper EV gets a column drive selector behind the wheel. While the lower part of the console gets the new cup holders, type-C charging ports, and cubby storage spaces.

The new generation Mini Cooper Electric is a new hatchback with significant changes in its design, features, and powertrain. This car resembles the current generation with its iconic design language. Moreover, it also retains the typical sporty hatchback silhouette.
The new generation Mini Cooper EV gets a new grille with a white surround and a small air dam and a black strip. The Cooper still retains the round LED Headlights. But it gets a new bonnet, stylish alloy wheels, and angular LED taillights.
Dimensionally, the new Cooper EV is 3.8 meters in length from bumper to bumper. The new Cooper gets a practical stance due to a longer wheelbase, wider track, large wheels, and short overhangs. It represents that company has worked well to bring the iconic hatchback to its roots.
The Powertrain, Global Debut, and India Launch
The new Cooper might use a similar powertrain which is currently available in Cooper SE. However, the carmaker will make changes to its tuning for better power delivery. Currently, the Cooper SE makes 184hp of power and 270nm of torque.
Mini will also launch the powerful SE variant of the new-gen Cooper EV with 218hp of power. Other trims will get the 40kWh batter pack to deliver around 380kms of range. While the SE variant might get the bigger 54kWh battery pack.
Mini will unveil the new generation Cooper EV by the end of 2023. Currently, this car will be sold along with the petrol version. The carmaker will launch the new Cooper in global markets by 2024. After that, we expect that the carmaker will launch it in India as well.
