2022 Porsche 911 GT3 RS: The Most Hardcore 911 Ever!

Porsche has unveiled the most hardcore 911 yet in the form of the new GT3 RS. The 911 GT3 may already be known as the track tool but the GT3 RS dials things up a notch with its extreme focus on downforce, aerodynamics, and precision. Let’s take a look at what makes the new 911 GT3 RS so special:

The new 911 GT3 RS uses a large central radiator which is angled in the car’s nose instead of a three radiator layout seen in the previous models. This frees up space on the sides to integrate more active aerodynamic elements. It gets continuosly adjustable wing elements in the front and on the two-part rear wing. This results in a staggering 409 kg of total downforce being produced at 200 km/h and 860 kg at 285 km/h which is twice as much downforce its predecessor produces. It also comes with a drag reduction system (DRS) which is a first for any production Porsche.

One of the major contributors to the huge amount of drag being produced is the swan-neck supported rear wing which consists of a fixed main wing and an upper, hyrdaulically adjustable wing element. Other elements include a front splitter, side blades and louvred openings in the front wings. The suspension has been engineered to provide aerodynamic precision as well. The double-wishbone front axle suspension has been designed with teardrop-shaped profiles that increases the downforce by 40 kgs at higher speeds.

The new 911 GT3 RS has a wider track than the GT3 as well. There are three drive modes: Normal, Sport, and Track. The track mode allows the driver to adjust basic vehicle settings, like the front and rear axle damping, the rear differential, and more. The steering wheel features four rotary controls for individual settings and a DRS button. These settings can be accessed via the digital instrument cluster and the driver can conviniently adjust the compression and damping of the suspension from these menus. It also comes equipped with Ceramic brakes with 410 mm discs in the front and 390 mm discs in the rear.

The 911 GT3 RS is powered by a 4-litre naturally aspirated flat six boxer engine that produces 525 PS and screams past 9000 rpm. It comes mated to a 7-speed PDK that helps it achieve 0-100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds and reach a top speed of 296 km/h. The 911 GT3 RS has a kerb weight of 1450 kg. Porsche is also offering the Clubsport and Weissach packages for no extra cost with the 911 GT3 RS.
