It is being said that German premium car maker is done with the preliminary development stages for the next gen 2016 Mercedes E Class. Expected to be unveiled towards the end of 2015, the complete model replacement for current E Class will be built on the MRA (Mercedes Rear wheel Architecture). This is the same platform that underpins the new C Class.

Akin to the new C Class, the next gen E Class could feature a bodyshell made using hybrid aluminium construction the next gen 2016 E Class could be as much as 100kgs lighter than current model.

German car magazine Auto Bild have come up with a couple of speculative renders of the next gen 2016 Mercedes E Class which suggest that the car could feature a sleek pair of headlamps, a sporty front bumper, a sleeker tail-end and a slightly bigger greenhouse. All this while, the rendering suggests that the design of the next E Class will be more evolutionary than revolutionary.

It is being said that the next gen E Class will also get as many as three hybrid powertrain options.
