The Germans keep upping the game with their luxury cars! Mercedes, which was overtaken by both Audi and BMW, seems to have pulled its socks and how! After having posted enough about the upcoming CLA Class, we are now publishing some relevant details of the next generation C Class.
The all new Mercedes C Class will be unveiled at the Geneva motor show next year and is expected to become a potent rival to the new 3’er. The new C will have four bodystyles – Saloon, Estate, Coupe and Convertible.
Underpinning the new C will be the MRA (Modular Rear-wheel drive Architecture) platform and the new car will be longer & wider by 100mm and 40mm respectively. This will also ensure that the new C will be considerably larger than the CLA and there won’t be any problem with positioning the car higher than the baby CLS.
The boot too has grown to 485 litres, which is more than other German entry level luxury cars.
While the new C will be larger, it will be lighter than the current gen car and will tip the scales at 1,380kgs.
The MacPherson strut layout at front will be replaced with a double wishbone system and will make the car a much better handler.
Power options for the new C will be – a 184bhp four-cylinder petrol, 330bhp V6 petrol and an oil burner with power ranging from a modest 120bhp to a good 220bhp. A plug-in petrol-electric hybrid is also on the cards.
All the motors will allow the buyer to choose between a six-speed manual and a seven-speed DCT gearbox.
The C will get safety features like Distronic Plus with Steering Assist, Brake Assist Plus with Junction Assist, Attention Assist and many more.
