The Alto 800 is an entry-level hatchback in Maruti Suzuki's portfolio which is now equipped with a BS-VI ready engine in its latest guise. The hatchback is available in three variants and offers six colour options
The Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 is one of the most trusted entry-level hatchbacks in the Indian market. It has been updated for the year 2019 and gets some minor styling tweaks along with standard safety aids across variants. Up front, the 2019 Alto 800 gets updates to its fascia in the form of a different looking grille, sharper looking headlights and a redesigned bumper which comes fitted with a large mesh-pattern air dam. Besides those minor changes, the Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 looks pretty much like the model it replaces, sideways and at the back.
The cabin of the 2019 Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 has been redesigned with a pattern that looks more like how things are in the Alto K10. The new Alto also comes with a new entertainment system which is Bluetooth-enabled besides providing traditional connectivity options like USB and Aux-in. The cabin gets dual-tone treatment and can seat four occupants in reasonable comfort for within town journeys. In terms of storage, the car offers front and rear console bottle holders and map pockets for both the front doors.
The topmost VXi trim offers luxuries like silver accents on the door and the centre console, front power windows, remote keyless entry, remote fuel lid and boot opener, central locking and internally adjustable ORVMs.
The 2019 Maruti Alto 800 features standard safety aids in the form of a driver-side airbag, rear parking sensors, ABS with EBD, a seatbelt reminder and a speed alert system. Higher trim levels offer dual airbags.
Mechanically, the Maruti Suzuki Auto 800 is powered by a 796cc petrol engine which develops 47 ps of power at 6000 rpm and 69 Nm of torque at 3500 rpm. The motor comes paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox. The engine is fuel-efficient and is rated for 22.05 km/l. Ready to comply with the upcoming BS-VI norms, the 3-cylinder engine makes enough power to push this little car up to zippy speeds within the town. However, the lack of power is apparent out on the highway and the car's tiny wheels and basic suspension try hard to maintain composure. That said, the Alto 800 is an ideal and affordable tool as a first car purchase.
2019 Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 BS-VI price starts from INR 2.94 Lakh to INR 3.72 Lakh.
The Alto’s design has sculpted bodywork, flared wheel arches, a wedged profile and inclined windows. Updates to the styling are headlined by a redesigned front fascia that comprises a slit-like grille, along with a new front bumper with a gaping intake and provisions for fog lamps.
