Dune buggies are far off from being called luxurious. Motoring stereotypes are being broken every other day, and today from the Swedish design house Gray Design, we have the Sidewinder. Gray Design’s latest project is something they’d like to put as a high-end dune buggy that represents the ultimate vehicle for traversing sandy terrain.
Power comes from a Chevrolet LSX big block motor with 630 horsepower and 600 pound-feet of torque, endowing the luxury bug to sprint from 0 to 100 km/hrs in just 4.2 seconds and reach a top speed of over 90 mph, enough to kick up a mini dust storm, as you sit smug in air-conditioned comfort inside. It’s a dune buggy after all, so mega suspending duties are taken care of by front and rear boxed chromoly (high carbon steel) arms, front and rear anti-sway bars and 3.0 KING bypass shock absorbers.
Inside, the Sidewinder boasts an array of OLED infotainment screens by Swedspot, combined with a totally customization Android-based platform. A Vehicle Application Programming Interface (API) provides access to data from the vehicle’s sensors and signals. And boy! Doesn’t it look absolutely beastly? See more of it here in the gallery below:
