A new look can make a familiar car feel quite different. Hyundai has given the Exter a darker personality with the new Knight edition, which is priced from Rs 8.13 lakh to Rs 9.60 lakh, ex showroom. It is based on the HX6 and HX10 trims and brings several black and dark grey details to the small SUV. There is no performance upgrade here, but the changes are enough to give the Exter a different feel.
Pricing and variants
The Knight edition is available in four combinations:

The range does not start with the entry level Exter. Hyundai has used the better equipped HX6 and HX10 trims for this edition.
A darker exterior
The main change is the treatment of the exterior. Hyundai has used matte black badges for both the Hyundai and Exter logos. The front and rear bumper garnishes are dark grey, as are the side sill garnishes.
Depending on the version, buyers get 15 inch black alloy wheels or dark grey styled steel wheels. Red front brake calipers add a small contrast to the dark theme. A Knight badge also separates this version from the regular Exter.
Five colours are available:

- Atlas White
- Starry Night
- Titan Grey
- Golden Bronze
The cabin gets its own theme
The dashboard layout stays familiar, but the colour combination is different. The Knight edition has an all black cabin with brass coloured accents and black semi fabric seats.
Selected versions also get amber footwell lighting and a black D cut steering wheel. These touches give the cabin a more special appearance without changing the seating or basic layout.
Engine and features
The Exter Knight uses the same 1.2 litre four cylinder Kappa petrol engine. It makes 83 PS and 113.8 Nm. Buyers can choose a five speed manual or Smart Auto AMT. The petrol CNG version comes with a five speed manual gearbox.
The SUV also continues with features such as a 5 inch TFT display, touchscreen infotainment, connected technology, automatic climate control, dual channel ABS and switchable traction control.
Hyundai says its Knight range has crossed one lakh sales since 2022. That gives the new Exter version a strong base within the company lineup.
The new edition is mainly for buyers who want their Exter to look different without moving to a larger SUV. The price is higher, but the changes are mostly visual.
For a buyer who likes the darker styling, the Knight should make sense. Others can still choose the regular Exter and get the same engine and basic driving package for less money.
