Audi is bringing back some excitement to its India range. The German luxury carmaker has confirmed three important models for the country, covering a compact SUV, a new sedan and a large three-row SUV. The new Q3, A5 and Q9 will give buyers more choices and also bring newer Audi products to India.
The Q3 will be the first model to arrive, followed by the A5 and Q9. Audi is also looking at local assembly for these cars at the Skoda Auto Volkswagen Group facility in Maharashtra.
Audi Q3 will arrive first
The third-generation Q3 will be the first launch from this new group. It is expected to reach India during the festive season of 2026.
The new Q3 gets a sharper design and a more modern cabin. The India version is expected to use a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine with 204bhp. A seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox and Quattro all-wheel drive are also expected.

- 12.8-inch touchscreen
- Three-zone automatic climate control
- Large sunroof
- More modern cabin technology
- SUV and Sportback versions are being considered
Audi plans to price the Q3 close to its main rivals. The company says higher and mid-level variants make up most of its sales, so a very basic entry version may not be part of the plan.
A5 will replace the A4
The next major model will be the A5 sedan. It is expected to arrive in early 2027 and will take the place of the ageing A4 in Audi’s range.
The A5 is larger and uses Audi’s newer architecture. Its cabin also follows the latest Audi design, with an optional passenger display adding more technology.
For India, the A5 is expected to use a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine with an automatic gearbox and front-wheel drive.
Q9 will sit above the Q7
The biggest model among the three will be the Q9. It will become Audi India’s flagship SUV and is expected in the second half of 2027.
At more than 5.3 metres long, the Q9 will offer three rows and take on SUVs such as the Mercedes-Benz GLS and BMW X7.

The Q9 is expected to get a petrol engine, eight-speed automatic gearbox and all-wheel drive. A diesel engine is not expected for India.
Audi wants a bigger share
Audi currently holds around eight per cent of India’s luxury car market. The company wants to raise this to around 16 to 18 per cent within three years.
It is also working on its dealer network and expanding its Audi Approved Plus pre-owned business. Local assembly of the new models could also help Audi keep pricing competitive.
With the Q3, A5 and Q9, Audi will have three fresh products covering very different parts of the luxury market. The Q3 brings volume, the A5 adds a newer sedan and the Q9 gives Audi a larger flagship SUV. For Indian buyers, that makes the next two years quite interesting.
