Maruti Suzuki has received a major boost just before the official launch of the 2026 Brezza, which is scheduled for today. The updated compact SUV has earned a full 5 star safety rating in the latest Bharat NCAP crash tests. The result applies across the Brezza range, giving buyers more confidence before bookings and deliveries begin. The tested model was the ZXI+ 1.5 litre automatic, but Bharat NCAP has confirmed that the rating is valid for all eligible variants.

Strong Adult Occupant Protection
The Brezza scored 30.41 out of 32 points for Adult Occupant Protection.
During the frontal offset crash test:
- Driver’s head, neck, pelvis, thighs and feet received Good protection.
- Driver’s chest and tibia received Adequate protection.
- Front passenger received Good protection for most body parts.
- Passenger tibia received an Adequate rating.
The SUV also performed very well in side impact testing.
- Side movable barrier test score: 16 out of 16
- Side pole impact test: Good protection with an OK verdict
Child Safety Scores Also Impressive
The 2026 Brezza secured 43 out of 49 points for Child Occupant Protection. Both the 18 month old and 3 year old child dummies were placed in rear facing child seats during the test.
The results included:
- Dynamic score: 24 out of 24
- CRS installation score: 12 out of 12
- Vehicle assessment score: 7 out of 13
The SUV lost points only in the vehicle assessment section, which brought the final child safety score to 43 points.
Safety Features Offered
The crash tested Brezza came equipped with several important safety features.
These include:
- Six airbags
- Electronic Stability Control
- Seat belt reminders for all seats
- Front seat belt pretensioners
- ISOFIX child seat mounts on rear seats
- Side curtain airbags
- Pedestrian protection features
These features are available across the eligible variants covered under the Bharat NCAP rating.
Rating Applies Across The Lineup
Although Bharat NCAP tested the ZXI+ 1.5 litre six speed automatic, the certification is applicable to the Brezza lineup, including:
- 1.5 litre petrol manual
- 1.5 litre petrol automatic
- New 1.0 litre turbo petrol manual
This means buyers choosing different powertrain options will receive the same crash safety rating.
Big Step Ahead Of Earlier Brezza
The previous Vitara Brezza was tested by Global NCAP. It received a 4-star rating for adult protection and 2 stars for child protection.
The new Brezza now delivers:

- 5 stars for Child Occupant Protection
This marks a clear improvement in crash safety compared to the earlier model.
