MG Windsor EV to Launch in India on September 11

MG Motor India is set to expand its electric vehicle lineup with the launch of the Windsor on September 11. A rebranded version of the Cloud EV popular in markets like Indonesia, the Windsor is tailored for Indian consumers. The company will also unveil the car’s pricing on the same day. With the Windsor, MG aims to strengthen its position in the burgeoning Indian EV market.

Design and Features

The 2024 Windsor EV has been previewed in teasers that highlight several key features. The exterior will showcase LED light bars at both the front and rear, a vertically stacked headlamp cluster with projector headlights, a charging port on the left front fender, bold alloy wheels, an integrated spoiler, and flush-fitting door handles.

Inside, the Windsor EV will offer a two-spoke multifunction steering wheel, a panoramic sunroof, and rear seats with a 135-degree recline function, which MG calls “aero-lounge seats,” ambient lighting, and black upholstery.

Performance and Specifications

Internationally, the Windsor EV (Wuling Cloud EV) is available with two battery options: a 37.9kWh pack and a 50.6kWh pack, offering claimed ranges of 360 km and 460 km, respectively. It is powered by a front-axle-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor producing 134 hp. However, it is yet to be confirmed which version will be available in India.

Positioning and Pricing

The MG Windsor EV is expected to be priced under Rs 20 lakh, positioning it below the ZS EV in the brand’s lineup. It will compete with models such as the Tata Nexon EV, Mahindra XUV400, and Tata Curvv EV.
