Spy Shots Reveal New-Gen Honda Amaze Testing

Honda Cars India is all set to update the current-gen Amaze in the country. The automaker was recently spied on testing the compact sedan. The car is scheduled to make its way to the market by the end of this year. The pictures indicate that it will continue as a compact sedan and, like the City, will be more of an evolution rather than an outright change. This model will compete in the subcompact sedan segment, going up against established rivals like the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Hyundai Aura, and Tata Tigor.

Based on the spy shots from 91wheels, the camouflaged prototype of the Amaze is shown with an emission testing kit attached to its exhaust. Further, the mule partially revealed the tail lamps, which have received a smoked treatment. The pictures show a new design for the tail lamps while retaining some elements of the current model. The images also confirm the presence of a reverse camera, a shark fin antenna, and three fixed headrests for the rear passengers, similar to the City. The big changes are expected to be inside, where Honda is likely to upgrade the feature list with items like a 360-degree camera, Level-2 ADAS, dual-digital screens, a power driver’s seat, ventilated front seats, and a sunroof

The new Honda Amaze is expected to undergo cosmetic and feature enhancements, although the mechanicals are likely to remain unchanged. Mechanically, the upcoming Amaze is likely to be powered by the same 1.2-litre petrol engine mated to a five-speed manual and a CVT gearbox. This engine is tuned to generate 89 bhp and 110 Nm of peak torque. Additionally, the model may also get a factory-fitted CNG kit to keep up with the competition.
