Lamborghini Urus SE Plug-In Hybrid SUV Launched at ₹4.57 Crore

Lamborghini has expanded its lineup in India with the debut of the Urus SE. Priced at ₹4.57 crore (ex-showroom), this plug-in hybrid performance SUV joins the ranks of Lamborghini’s electrified models, which currently include the Sian FKP 37 and the Revuelto. The Urus SE represents the Italian brand’s third foray into the electrified vehicle segment.

Design and Aesthetic Upgrades

The Urus SE stands apart from its purely internal combustion engine counterparts, the Urus S and Urus Performante, with several distinctive design enhancements. The SUV sports a redesigned bonnet, an updated radiator grille, and Matrix LED headlights with a unique light signature. These changes are complemented by an overhauled front bumper and grille, a new tailgate, and Y-shaped, mesh-designed LED taillights. The SUV’s all-black alloy wheels, available in sizes ranging from 21 to 23 inches, are wrapped in new Pirelli P Zero tires.

Aerodynamic improvements are a key focus of the Urus SE. The SUV features a reworked diffuser and a new spoiler, which together increase downforce by 35% at higher speeds compared to the standard Urus S. Enhanced under-body air vents and modified air ducts contribute to a 15% improvement in aerodynamic efficiency. Additionally, the brake system now benefits from 30% better cooling, supporting the SUV’s high-performance capabilities.

Powertrain and Performance

At the core of the Urus SE is a sophisticated hybrid powertrain. The SUV combines a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine with an electric motor integrated into an 8-speed automatic transmission. This powertrain produces a combined output of 789 bhp and 950 Nm of torque. Specifically, the electric motor delivers 189 bhp and 483 Nm, while the petrol engine alone generates 612 bhp and 800 Nm.

The Urus SE accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds, making it 0.1 seconds faster than the Urus S, though slightly slower than the Performante. The SUV offers an all-electric range of up to 60 kilometers and reaches a top speed of 312 km/h. It is equipped with an all-wheel-drive system, which enhances its traction and performance in various road conditions.

Driving Modes and Technology

The Urus SE introduces several new driving modes in addition to the existing Strada, Sport, Corsa, Neve, Sabbia, and Terra modes. The new modes include EV Drive and Hybrid, designed for electric-only and hybrid driving, respectively. The Recharge mode allows the battery to be recharged up to 80% while maintaining performance and can be used in conjunction with Strada, Sport, Corsa, and Neve modes. The Performance mode is versatile and can be employed across all driving conditions.

Inside, the Urus SE boasts a new 12.3-inch center touchscreen, replacing the previous 10.1-inch panel, and features Lamborghini’s latest software. The interior also includes new switchgear, upgraded AC vents, and the addition of four new driving modes—Full EV Drive, Hybrid, Performance, and Recharge. A new longitudinal electric torque vectoring system with an electro-hydraulic multi-plate clutch optimally distributes torque between the front and rear axles, working in harmony with the rear axle’s new electronic limited-slip differential to provide enhanced handling.

Pricing and Competition

Priced at ₹4.57 crore (ex-showroom), the Urus SE is positioned slightly above the outgoing Urus S. It competes with high-end rivals such as the Aston Martin DBX, Porsche Cayenne Turbo, and Audi RS Q8. The Urus SE blends striking design, advanced hybrid technology, and performance enhancements, setting a new benchmark in the luxury SUV segment.
