The Czech Carmaker, Skoda has launched the Kushaq and Slavia in India. These cars have gained an optimistic response from the market. Following its success, Skoda has launched 1.5L TSi powertrains in the mid-variants of these cars.

Which variant is available with 1.5 TSi?
Earlier, the 1.5L TSi engine was available in the range-topping Style variants of Kushaq and Slavia. This made the package out of reach for a wide audience. Now, Skoda has launched the 1.5L TSi engine for the Ambition variant. Ambition is the mid variant of Slavia and Kushaq. With the addition of a powerful engine in this variant, Skoda Kushaq and Slavia will gain more sales and caters to those looking for a car with a powerful engine on a budget.
Features of the Ambition variant
Skoda has loaded the Ambition variant of Slavia and Kushaq with plenty of features. The safety features included in this variant comprise dual airbags, parking sensors, ABS, EBD, ESP, TCS, and hill assist. However, the Kushaq has received a 5-star safety rating from Global NCAP, while the safety ratings for the Slavia model are currently unknown.
In terms of exteriors, the Kushaq Ambition model is equipped with projector headlights, while the Slavia variant features halogen headlights. Both models come with LED DRLs, passive cornering lights, LED taillights, alloy wheels, and rear defoggers. However, the Kushaq also includes rear wipers.
Inside, the Slavia gets a Beige theme while the Kushaq gets a Black and Grey theme. The dashboard of both these cars is brimmed with features like an 8-inch infotainment system, steering-mounted controls, and connected car tech like apple car play, android auto, etc. Both these cars get comfort creature features which include the Auto AC, reverse camera, cruise control, tilt, telescopic steering, etc. But the Kushaq Ambition also gets a Keyless entry and push button start feature.
Powertrain options
Both the Kushaq and Slavia get a multitude of powertrain options. The base engine is a 1.0L 3-cylinder TSi turbo petrol engine. This engine makes 115ps of power and 178nm of torque. The 1.0L TSi engine is available with either a 6-Speed Manual Transmission or a 6-Speed Automatic Transmission. However, the real show stealer is the 1.5L 4-cylinder TSi turbo petrol engine. It churns out a whopping 150ps of power and 250nm of torque. This engine is only available with a 7-Speed DSG Transmission.

Pricing and Competition
The 1.5L TSi range of Skoda cars starts from Rs. 14.94 Lakhs Ex-showroom. The pricing of 1.5L TSi for Slavia ranges from Rs. 14.94-18.40 Lakhs Ex-showroom and for Kushaq, the price ranges from Rs. 14.99-19.69 Lakhs Ex-showroom.
Skoda Kushaq will continue to lock its horns with several other compact SUVs such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Toyota Hyryder, Maruti Grand Vitara, Volkswagen Taigun, and MG Astor. However, Skoda Slavia continues to compete with several other sedans such as Hyundai Verna, Honda City, Volkswagen Virtus, and Maruti Ciaz.
