Morris Garages, the British carmaker made its entry into the Indian market back in 2019 with its Hector SUV. The country’s first ‘Internet SUV’ debuted on the 27th of June, 2019, and has since been the automaker’s highest-selling model.
On the 20th of December 2023, MG celebrated the achievement of crossing the 1 lakh production milestone of the Hector. The 1,00,000th unit of the SUV rolled off from MG’s Halol production facility in Gujarat in its striking red colour.
The 1,00,000th Unit
The MG Hector is said to receive a new-gen update in January 2023 which has already been seen in pictures. And interestingly, the 1 lakh-th unit of the Hector that’s gotten commemorated appears to be the new-gen model.

MG has been pretty tight-lipped about the new-gen Hector which explains why the vehicle’s front portion was covered in flowers. But the new gloss-black headlamp surrounds gave away that it was indeed the newer generation Hector seen in the pictures.
MG has announced that the Hector facelift will be officially unveiled in India on January 5, 2023.
The New-Gen Hector

The major changes are focused at the front as MG has given a much wider grille studded with diamond-chrome inserts. The gloss black headlamp surrounds coupled with a new chrome skidplate provide it an imposing stance & greater road presence.
At the rear, a chrome strip runs across the tailgate from under the taillamps & there’s also a revised bumper. A vertically placed 14-inch touchscreen will be the center of attention on a new dashboard layout. The SUV will stay mechanically unchanged and sport the same powertrain options as now.

But then, it will get ADAS & similar features to those seen in the Astor are expected for the Hector. These include features like adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assistance, lane-departure warning, forward collision avoidance, blind-spot monitor, and stop-go traffic assist.
