New Lexus RX SUV To Be Unveiled At Auto Expo

Luxury automaker Lexus is all set to introduce the 2023 version of its upcoming RX SUV at the Auto Expo. The RX, which is in its fifth-gen avatar, was globally unveiled back in June this year.

Laden with fresh styling and unique elements, the RX will be introduced in two variants and an updated hybrid powertrain. Apart from Volvo, Lexus will be the only other luxury carmaker to be present at the auto expo 2023.

About the New RX

Deemed to be the brand’s first model to get connected car technology, the RX’s powertrain is more powerful & efficient. The RX being the company’s core model, Lexus has put in the utmost effort by completely renewing the luxury crossover.

New Exterior

From the RZ, Lexus’ new spindle body design language makes its way into the RX with bigger dimensions. The SUV’s wheelbase is now longer by 60mm while it covers more area thanks to its wider tracks. The front track has been widened by 15mm while that measurement stands at 40mm at the rear.

The SUV now looks more like a coupe due to its roofline which has been lowered by 10mm. Its revised front features a sleeker set of headlamps with an aggressive grill. The company has also updated the alloy wheel design and slimmer taillamps.

Updated Interior & Features

On the inside, a 14-inch touchscreen occupies center stage which supports wireless Apple CarPlay and has a wireless charging pad. Although Android Auto still requires your phone to be connected to the car via a cable.

A 360-degree parking camera as well as a digital rear-view monitor are also part of the package. The interior sports a minimalist layout and comes upholstered with soft-touch vegan synthetic leather to up the premium quotient.

The RX gets ADAS features such as adaptive cruise control, lane change assist, active steering assist, and collision risk monitor.

Powertrain Options

The version currently sold in India came with the 450h powertrain. But internationally, the RX SUV comes with an option of multiple strong hybrid and Plug-in Hybrid powertrains.

In 2020, Lexus’ presence in India was further strengthened with the introduction of its first locally produced model, ES 300h. Currently, the Japanese luxury automaker has its physical presence in 13 cities and 15 guest touchpoints across the country.
