TVS backed Ultraviolette Automotive is gearing up for the launch of its F77 high performance electric motorcycle with the launch date being set for November the 24th this year. Having put the e-bike through 5 years of rigorous testing and R&D, the much awaited bike with over 70 thousand pre-launch bookings coming from across 190 countries is expected to be made available in 3 variants – namely the Airstrike, the Shadow and the Laser. The Bengaluru-based company is also hoping to enter the US and European markets too. With the launch being planned out in a phased manner starting from Bengaluru and moving ahead to other cities across the country, the company had hinted at a 3 lakh plus price tag for the e-bike back in 2019.

The 2-wheeler EV space in India is seeing rapid competition and new entrants coming forward with their products giving customers the biggest advantage. With mainstream manufacturers launching their electric products like TVS’ iQube or the recently launched Hero Vida V1, and new solely electric manufacturers like Ather, Ola getting a stronghold over the market with their EVs, Ultraviolette is trying to also trying to make up space for themselves in the customers minds.

The F77 sports a muscular build with its battery and frame completely covered by panels & fairing. As seen in the pictures, the bike’s aggressive street-fighter headlight along with integrated DRLs give it a tempting appeal and it’s front centric stance with those chunky suspension forks makes it look much sportier. The 5 years of R&D has seen some significant changes in the chassis and battery pack layout of the electric 2-wheeler wherein now the battery pack acts as a stressed member in the frame. The in-house developed battery has also seen some developments which results in an increase in the range by 15-20%. A mid-mounted motor powers the rear wheel via a chain drive.

Expect the F77 to have dual channel ABS, multiple drive modes, regenerative braking and adjustable suspension to name a few. The company led by Narayan Subramaniam, has been testing it’s product under varied weather conditions and terrains across the country. The manufacturer has been conducting production trail runs at its manufacturing facility set up in Electronic City as it gears up to launch its first electric motorcycle.
