When Mahindra launched the all-new Scorpio N, the Indian carmaker announced that the current Scorpio will soldier on as the Scorpio Classic and co-exist with the new model. That’s a pretty logical decision if you ask us considering the fact that the old Scorpio still sells like hot cakes in small towns and rural areas. Staying true to that announcement, Mahindra is all set to launch the updated Scorpio Classic tomorrow. Let’s take a look at what we can expect from it:

The new Scorpio Classic has already started arriving at dealerships and a recent spotting gave us a close look at what we can expect from it. Mahindra has made some changes to the Scorpio Classic to keep it fresh. The projector headlights are more or less the same but Mahindra has added LED DRLs which are placed above the fog lamps. It also gets a new six-slat grille with Mahindra’s new twin peaks logo placed in the middle. Higher variants will come with 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels whereas the lower variants will come with steel wheels.

The interiors of the Scorpio Classic have been spruced up as well. It gets new wooden inserts on the center console and some piano black elements as well. The steering wheel houses Mahindra’s new logo and the gear lever has been borrowed from the newer Mahindra SUVs like the XUV700. It also gets a new and larger touchscreen infotainment system which is expected to get smartphone connectivity. The Scorpio Classic will be offered in 7 and 9-seater options. It will be powered by a 2.2-liter diesel engine delivering 140 hp. The engine comes mated with a 6-speed manual transmission. However, it won’t have an automatic transmission. The Scorpio Classic is expected to be offered in the 4×2 format and miss out on the option of 4×4.

The Scorpio Classic will be positioned below the recently launched Scorpio N. The Scorpio is currently priced between ₹ 13.53 lakh and ₹18.61 lakh (ex. showroom). We expect the price range to shrink considering that Mahindra is expected to launch the Scorpio Classic in only two trims. The base S model is expected to be bare bones whereas the top-end S11 variant will come with all the features.
