New Volkswagen Golf Showcased at New York

2015 Volkswagen Golf has been showcased at the ongoing New York Motor Show. Volkswagen says that the new car will reach US dealerships by next year and will be manufactured at its Puebla facility in Mexico.

Volkswagen has displayed the base TSI, the TDI Clean Diesel and the GTI model at the 2013 NYMS.

The entry level models of the new Golf are powered by a 1.8-liter direct-injection turbo four pot TSI engine that will have a max power output of 170hp and a peak torque figure of 250Nm. The TDI Clean Diesel variants will be powered by a 2.0-liter common-rail, direct injection turbocharged oil burner that will have a power-torque figure of 150hp and 320 Nm. The top of the line Golf GTI will be powered by a 2 liter turbocharged petrol motor with a max power output of 210 hp and a peak torque figure of 350Nm. The transmission options will be a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed DSG gearbox.

The Golf GTI gets sportier bumpers, a different roof spoiler, xenon headlamps and chrome-tipped exhaust pipes. The GTI will ride lower than other variants. On the inside, the car will get a sport steering wheel, sports gear knob, revised instrument cluster, sports pedals, sport seats, a black headliner and red ambient lighting.
