The BMW X6 can safely be credited with opening the doors to the all new segment of SUVs/Crossovers. Such is the impact of the X6 that various auto giants have channelled their forces in developing a BMW X6 rival. Being marketed as a Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV), the X6 has to be one of the most successful high end cars of modern times.
BMW is fast plugging in all the gaps in its product portfolio and we have already reported in considerable detail about the upcoming 2 and 4 Series of cars. While we might get new crossovers positioned above the X6, also in the pipeline are BMW X2 and X4 that will be positioned below the X3 and X5 respectively.
Seen here are a couple of BMW X2 speculative rendering that gives us a hint of what the upcoming Bimmer might look like. The BMW X2 might play the perfect baby brother to the BMW X6 in terms of styling.
The BMW X2 Coupe SUV will be underpinned by the next gen X1’s platform and will follow a ‘form over function’ approach.
The X2 might possess a highly sweeping version of the X1’s roof line and might come in both 3 door and 5 door body layouts. The rendering suggests that the front fascia will get ‘3 Series like’ headlights which stretch all the way to the trademark kidney grill and the overall effect might be that of a beefier and rugged version of the 3 series.
The BMW X2 is expected to make its public debut in late 2015 and will go on sale in early 2016.
