Tata cars become dearer by up to INR 35000

As we earlier reported, the latest budget led excise duty on small cars to be increased to 12 percent from earlier 10 percent. Only today we reported in detail about the price hike by Toyota Kirloskar and now popular auto manufacturer Tata Motors announces that the prices of its line up of cars has been hiked by up INR 35,000 with immediate effect. The spokesperson for Tata Motors said,”We have raised the prices as per the excise duty hike in the Budget. In passenger cars, the increase will vary between Rs 2,000 and Rs 8,000 depending upon various models.”

It may be noted that the Nano too will now become dearer due to this move. Also, this simply means that the all new Tata Safari Storme might not look all that competitively priced.

We are still waiting for the manufacturer to provide the model-wise break-up of this price increase.
