PT. Suzuki Indomobil Motor (SIM)m the Indonesian subsidiary of Suzuki Motor Corporation, recently unveiled the Suzuki Karimun Wagon R in Indonesia. Production of the car has already commenced at the car maker’s Tambun plant in Indonesia.
Powering the Indonesia spec Wagon R is the same 1-litre K Series petrol engine that powers the Maruti WagonR. The engine has a max power output of 68 PS and has a peak torque of 90 Nm.In Indonesia, the car adheres to guidelines set by LCGC project and hence, benefits from tax incentives.
Also showcased with the production spec WagonR at the IIMS was a Karimun Wagon R ‘Luxury’ version, which comes with a black paint job, bespoke alloy wheels and brushed metal bumper inserts.
The Karimun Wagon R comes with non-adjustable front seat headrests and save for this difference, the car is nearly identical to the Indian model .
In Indonesia, the Suzuki Karimun Wagon R will rival the recently launched Honda Brio Satya, upcoming Datsun Go, Daihatsu Ayla and the Toyota Agya.
The bookings for Suzuki Karimun Wagon R can be made at IIMS for an amount of 5 million rupiah (Approx INR 27,400). The car is expected to go on sale in Indonesia by November this year.
