SPIED: Upcoming Benelli Tornado 302 spotted testing for the first time in India

We had earlier reported that Chinese owned Italian motorcycle manufacturer Benelli has plans to launch the Tornado 302 in India this year. Now, as the reported launch date of the festive season approaches, a test mule of this faired sibling to the TNT300 has been spotted on the roads of Pune, Maharashtra.

Unveiled at the 2015 EICMA show in Milan, the Tornado 302 a.k.a. the 302R gets a 300cc liquid cooled, prallel twin cylinder engine as seen on the TNT300. This engine though, has been tuned to produce 34 hp and 27 Nm of torque as compared to the former state of tune that produced 27 hp and 26.5Nm. This engine will come mated to a a six speed transmission.

It is believed that the model will come equipped with ABS due to the upcoming safety norms that will come into effect in 2017 although it remains unclear whether ABS will be a standard feature. Once launched in India, the Benelli Tornado 302 will take on the likes of the Kawasaki Ninja 300 and the Yamaha R3. Expect the model to arrive with a price tag in the range of Rs. 3.15 lakh to Rs. 3.20 lakh (ex-showroom).
