Audi of Germany showcased an one-off, gold colour wrapped R8 V10 Plus at the Audi Forum Neckarsulm, the representative building of Audi AG. The car has been showcased to mark the R8 V10 Plus’s win of the prestigious Goldenes Lenkrad” or Golden Steering Wheel award from the readers of Auto Bild magazine. By readers’ choice, the R8 V10 Plus was awarded as the sports car of the year 2015 by the publication.
The Gold Audi R8 V10 Plus wears a shiny golden wrap, with the side blades, mirror caps, rear diffuser, rear spoiler, exhaust tips, side grills and the tasty, 19-inch wheels finished in contrasting gloss black. The celebratory super-car further features a single racing stripe done up in matte gold and highlighted with black pin stripes. To top it off, the front grille also features a silver coloured mesh insert.
This Gold Audi R8 V10 Plus is identical to the stock model mechanically, which means that its still parades that howling, naturally aspirated monster of a 5.2 liter V10 engine, good for 601 horsepower and 560 Nm of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels via the evolved Quattro all-wheel drive system and a revised 7-speed dual clutch automatic transmission. Weighing close to 50 kg lesser than its predecessor, the new Audi R8 V10 Plus can hit 100 km/h in just 3.2 secs and go on till the needle strikes 330 km/h.
