We reported in detail when Mahindra and Mahindra confirmed that the upcoming Verito based hatchback has been christened as the Verito Vibe.

Now, first pics of the upcoming car have leaked on to the cyber space and we are. . . errr. . speechless. As the entire country has been speculating, it can be seen in the pics that the Verito Vibe has surprisingly wide C pillars for a hatchback. The rear-end design won’t win any design contests and the car looks much a like a hastily truncated version of the Verito sedan. It’s hard to say if the boffins at Mahindra have taken inspiration from the Ford Focus but it is really a child’s play to predict that there is going to be a divided opinion on the rear end design.

The Verito Vibe will be pitted against the very popular Maruti Suzuki Swift, the Chevrolet Sail and the Hyundai i20. The upcoming hatchback will be launched next month and our guess is that the upcoming car will be promoted as entirely new car instead of a variant of the Verito.

The Verito Vibe hatchback is being expected to be priced in the vicinity of INR 5.5-6 lakhs. The Verito Vibe will be powered by the tried and tested 1.5 litre Renault K9K diesel engine that also powers the sedan variant.

Speaking on the ‘Verito Vibe’, Pravin Shah, Chief Executive, Automotive Division, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd, has said “Customer centric innovation has always been at the heart of any product development at the Mahindra Group. The Verito Vibe marks our entry in the high volume sub 4 metre segment. While developing this product we have paid particular attention to making this car look different and we are sure that it will appeal to customers with its young and sporty looks and that too without compromising the benefits which our existing Verito has to offer. “

Do you think that the upcoming hatchback would be able to get the better of the most established rivals? Do express your views in the comments section.
