It seems the competition in the middleweight tourer segment would soon skyrocket as the folks at Moto.it spotted a test mule of what is claimed to be a lower displacement Ducati Multistrada. The test mule of the motorcycle is claimed to be propelled by a 937cc V-twin motor that has been borrowed from the Ducati Hyperstrada/Hypermotard 939. That is the same motor that would be soon seen on the upcoming Ducati 939 Supersport and Supersport S that is scheduled for an unveil at the 2016 Intermot motor show in Bologna.

Visual observations from the spy image include a twin-sided swingarm instead of the single-sided unit on the Multistrada 1200. Moreover, the test mule, as reported, had a shorter wheelbase and a lower height as compared to the bigger Multistrada.

Mechanical details, as aforementioned, are expected to be shared with the Ducati Hyperstrada/Hypermotard 939. So expect to see the Testastretta 937 cc liquid cooled 4-valve per cylinder engine, capable of generating 113 HP of power at 9,000 rpm and 97.9 Nm of torque at 7,500 rpm propelling the upcoming middleweight Multistrada.

The test mule spotted by the motoring portal was heavily wrapped so the probability of the middleweight tourer making it to the 2016 Intermot is quite low. We may, however, see this motorcycle at the EICMA show scheduled in November 2016. There is also a good possibility that Ducati may unveil a more rugged version of the middleweight, christened as ‘Multistrada 939 Enduro’. The middleweight Multistrada would go against the likes of Tiger 800 XR, the BMW F800 GS and the upcoming KTM 800 Adventure series.

Let’s hope to see the motorcycle soon. Till then, let us know your views about the upcoming Multistrada 939 through the comments section below.
