Indi Custom Garage’s DIFFUSER is a Yamaha FZ16 in cafe racer disguise

If there are two things that can effectively cure the Monday morning blues, they have to be a really fancy motorcycle in the Motoroids garage or a neatly done mod-job in our inbox. We wouldn’t have been writing this post if we were out, testing a motorcycle so no points for guessing that it’s the latter this time. The first time of anything is always special. The first time you ride a bicycle, the first time you popped a wheelie, the first time you went knee scraping around the canyons. Here is a first from a new newly emerged custom motorcycle builder from Pune.

Pune based Indi Custom Garage, owned by Arghadeep Sarma, recently finished their first ever build, a cafe racer based on Yamaha FZ16 and fondly named as DIFFUSER. Now many custom houses use old school favorites such as a Royal Enfield or Yamaha RX100/135 or the RD350 for such projects but Sarma decided to go for the FZ16. Sarma says that the FZ16 one of the finest handling motorcycles in its segment and that’s one of the reasons to opt for this naked roadster. Getting one wouldn’t have been difficult of expensive either.

Sarma, a student of product design at MITID Pune, says that the design of bike is inspired by the symbol of “infinity”. Cosmetic updates on the motorcycle include single leather seat, 43mm WP upside down front forks from KTM Duke/RC motorcycles, a clip on handle bar and a custom fuel tank with a asymmetrically mounted fuel filler cap. The rear monoshock has been painted in the same shade as the fuel tank, a neat detail we must say. The free-flow exhaust gets exhaust tape which adds to the aesthetics along with functionality.

We would have liked to see a slightly bigger headlight, or probably a two-pod unit but the overall motorcycle looks pretty neat and Sarma has done a commendable job with this FZ16. Here are some more images of the DIFFUSER. Do let us know your views about this cafe racer from Indi Custom Garage through the comments section below.
