2012 Geneva Motor Show: Mercedes Showcases SL63 AMG

Mercedes-Benz unveiled the AMG variant of the SL class at the Geneva Motor Show today. Christened as the SL63 AMG, the car has a 5.5 liter V8 twin turbo motor that pumps out a power of 557 bhp. The manufacturer claims a 4.2 second 0 to 100 kmph run. As we reported earlier, the car’s light body shell comes with a carbon-fiber boot lid and the SL63 tips the scales at 1845kg. There also is a ‘friendlier’ version of the SL63 that has power of 530 horses without the optional AMG Performance Package. The motor is mated to a seven-speed Speedshift automatic gearbox that transmits the power to the rear wheels.
