‘The Dark Side of Japan’ – reads the tagline of the recently introduced MT07 Moto Cage by Yamaha. The cool looking stock MT07 has been further pepped-up by a whole bouquet of adornments. The flashy looking Moto Cage version is not just for those who like to ride – it’s for the showmen who prefer one wheel to two.

Yamaha have shot the official images inside an amusement park, with winding roller-coasters and smile inducing carousels forming the backdrop for this special edition, so no one is left with any doubt about the raison d’être of this machine – FUN!

With the Moto Cage monicker, the MT07 has gone extreme, or so claims Yamaha’s official release. “The Dark Side of Japan meets the acrobatic stunt world with this new variation of Yamaha’s best selling MT 07,” proclaims the official press document from the Land of the Rising Sun.

The stock model has been tweaked for the daredevils by means of an extra cage above the crankcase for additional engine protection. Extra protection also comes in the form of a small skid plate, red painted knuckle guards and stamped radiator guards. The front and rear wheels are painted in different colors – red and black (with red pinstripes) respectively. Also differentiating the special from its base version is a small crown above the head lamp.  The pillion seat has been redesigned and the motorcycle gets a generous splattering of special Moto Cage graphics across the body.

The changes, however, don’t come as OE, and will be made at the showroom level by official Yamaha dealers, only in Europe. For those who want to add some aural drama to their antics, there is also an aftermarket Akropovic exhaust for the taking, also adding its tiny bit to the power output.
