India Yamaha Motor launched the Yamaha MT-09 in a bid to strengthen its superbike lineup in the Indian market. The launch took place today at the Auto Expo 2016, as bollywood actor and avid biker John Abraham graced the event. The MT-09 has been planned and developed as the flagship model of the MT series and is priced at INR 10,20,000/- (Ex showroom in Delhi). Yamaha’s latest motorcycle will be available at selected dealers across the country starting this month.
The all new Yamaha MT-09 mounts a newly developed 847cc, liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, in-line triple-cylinder, fuel-injected engine. The MT-09 comes equipped with ABS and promises to return a Fuel Efficiency figure of 19 km/l. Producing peak power of 115 ps @ 10,000 rpm and 87.5 nm of torque @ 8,500 rpm, the fuel injected three cylinder 850cc engine is mated to a six speed gearbox.
With scales tipping at 188 kg (191 kg with ABS), the Yamaha MT-09 features an all new CF Aluminium die-cast frame and an asymmetrical rear swingarm with a horizontally mounted monocross suspension. The MT-09 will be imported as a Completely Built Unit (CBU) by India Yamaha Motor and will be available in shades of Race Blue and Matt Grey.
