The new 2015 XJR 1300, featuring the world’s largest air-cooled motorcycle engine was unveiled at the INTERMOT show 2014. Presented in two favours, a stock version and a lighter, carbon fiber embellished Racer version, the XJR 1300 should tug strongly at the hearts of those who miss the olden days.
Featuring new styling with a slim-line fuel tank, solo seat and aluminium bodywork – the XJR 1300 has reincarnated itself for the modern day, while still keeping alive the old-worldly charm. The exhaust is a 4 x 2 x 1 unit which ends in a new tail cap design. A stubbier tail adds to the stocky, muscular look of the motorcycle. A shortened sub frame, tapered aluminium bars, new instrument cluster and Ohlins rear suspension are some other highlights.

The XJR 1300 is a naked machine, the Racer variant adorns a café racer look, with some bits like the front fender, handlebar fairing and pillion seat cover finished in carbon. Both the variants are available in blue, matt grey or black.
The twins are a part of the Sports heritage range of the Yamaha product line-up also comprising of what Yamaha prefers calling ‘Yard Built Specials’. Built in collaboration with custom builders like Wrenchmonkees and DEUS Ex Machina, the XJR twins are available only in Europe as of now.
The XJR’s DOHC air-cooled engine produces 98 bhp of peak power and 108Nm of torque. The engine sits on a double cradle frame. The racer-inspired fuel tank is narrow to emphasize the mass of the engine while the new solo-seat design gives a high-performance look and custom feel.
