Prospective premium SUV buyers now have another option to choose from as the Mercedes-Benz GLA is about to be launched in India. This uniquely designed SUV will be available with two engine options – a 2.0-litre petrol that pumps out 181 bhp, 300 Nm of torque and carries an ARAI rating of 13.8 kpl. It is capable of attaining a top speed of 225 kph and does the 0 – 100 dash in 7.6 seconds. The oil burner is a 2.1 litre unit that develops 135 bhp, 300 Nm of torque and is rated for 17.9 kpl. It sprints from 0 – 100 in 9.9 seconds and can attain top speeds of 205 kph. The diesel version in particular boasts of the best fuel efficiency in the segment. Both engines are mated to a 7-speed, dual-clutch gearbox which also allows manual shifting through paddles behind the steering wheel. The petrol version will be called the GLA 200, while the diesel will carry a CDI badge.
The Mercedes-Benz GLA has been priced at Rs 32.75 lakh for the GLA 200 CDI variant; GLA 200 Sport retails for Rs 36 lakh, while the 200 CDI sport has been priced at Rs 36.9 lakh
A faster GLA 45 AMG 4MATIC version should follow soon after launch and will be powered by the most powerful series production four cylinder, turbo charged engine in the world.It will be a 2.0 litre petrol unit, that pumps out 355 bhp, 450 Nm of torque, will attain a top speed of 250 kph and sprint from 0 – 100 in 4.8 seconds.
