The key highlights of the new C-Class are its segment topping wheelbase, allowing for a comfortable, roomy cabin, a full LED intelligent lighting system along with Adaptive Main Beam Assist Plus for a dazzle-free drive experience for oncoming traffic. Inside the cabin, the occupants get ambient light in 3 colours with illuminated door sill pads. The car also comes equipped with a new infotainment interface design with touchpad as standard and GARMIN map pilot navigation with 3D-visualisation.
The new C-Class is longer, wider and lighter than the model it replaces. The design underlines the squat, wide stance of the car with a fusion of elegance and athleticism. A soft edge which merges into the tail lights accentuates the car’s strong shoulders. There’s also a spoiler lip on the boot lid for a sporty appearance.
Aerodynamically designed, the new C-Class is very different from its predecessor. The car gets a three-dimensional radiator grille. The AVANTGARDE exterior design includes the sports grille with twin louvres, emphasizing the long bonnet.
The full LED tail light cluster features a modern twin-torch-effect design. Also, the rear fog lamp is integrated in the tail light cluster for the first time.
Cabin comfort and features
On the inside, the new 2015 C-Class gets what Mercedes calls “Cobra-look” sporty front seats with integral head restraint. The front seats can be adjusted to a larger extent for height and are covered in ARTICO man-made leather. We would have liked Mercedes to put genuine leather here, but as the German brand has assumed that the former is a more apt option. The newly designed rear seats are said to enhance the comfort for the rear-seat passengers who also get more legroom and knee room.
The newly designed dashboard which is somewhat reminiscent of the range topping S-Class is visually divided into lower and upper sections separated by a trim strip. The control and display systems inside the car have also been redesigned.
The new infotainment system features 3D navigation and also allows networking with mobile devices via Bluetooth. Garmin MAP PILOT sat-nav works in tandem with the Audio 20 CD and gets its map data from an SD card with navigation software. Mercedes-Benz Apps such as Mercedes-Benz Radio can be used even while driving.
Other creature comforts include Reversing Camera, Panoramic Sliding Sunroof, KEYLESS GO starting function, spacious and illuminated boot with a total capacity of 480 litres. The rear seat backrests can be split-folded into a 40/20/40 ratio.
