Yet another Bajaj Pulsar SS 200 image surfaces; number plate hints at imminent launch

While it was expected that Bajaj Auto Ltd, one of the most promising players of Indian biking scene, would showcase the highly anticipated Bajaj Pulsar SS 200 at the recently concluded Auto Expo 2014, what came our way were two really interesting concepts, production models of which could pave the way for performance-oriented Indian bikes in near future. These bikes, the Bajaj Pulsar SS400 and the Bajaj Pulsar CS400, have set us bike aficionados all excited and we really can’t wait for the production models to come to us. However, Bajaj has stated that before it goes ahead with launching the SS400 and the CS400, it would introduce the Bajaj Pulsar SS 200, which is expected to look much like the SS400.

Now, thanks to this recent spy pic of the Bajaj Pulsar SS 200, it seems like the launch of this bike might be closer than we all expected it to be. The Bajaj Pulsar SS 200 image that has surfaced shows the bike with its front, fairing mounted registration plate, thereby indicating that the bike has reached the final stage of development and is ready to enter our bike market.

While the front end of the SS200 looks much like that of the SS400, there are some differences that we can spot between the fascias of the two bikes.

  • Firstly, the front eyebrow graphics on the SS200 are a tad different to the ones on the SS400. They are slightly darker and have a broader white outline.
  • Secondly, the fairing of the S200 test mule has its pointed part, at the side of the headlamps, coloured in yellow. The same area on the front fairing of the SS400 is black in colour.

Apart from these two changes, the front-end looks very similar to the one of the SS400.

The upcoming Bajaj Pulsar SS 200 will be powered by a fuel injected version of the 200NS’ 200cc, single pot motor. We believe that for the SS 200, this engine could have a max power of 25PS, along with slightly more torque. Six speed manual gearbox is expected to be carried over from the naked sibling. Also, previous spy pics reveal that the bike will come fitted with ABS.

Quite obviously, the bike would be slightly pricier than the 200NS and would become a direct rival to the Yamaha R15 V2.0 and Honda CBR150R when it goes on sale in the country.
