Here’s some kind of a sermon from a carmaker. It’s trying to tell you to shun your bikes for two pairs of wheels. And why would anyone say such a dim thing? Well, one of the reasons could be that VW doesn’t make bikes, so the ad doesn’t hurt its business interests in any way.
We would like all the no-so-good blokes from VW who made that ad understand that we as bikers are fully aware of the adversities that riding brings along. It’s more arduous, it’s more challenging, but at the same time, any real biker who also drives (including me) would agree that biking is far more thrilling and engaging than driving. We know the difficulties associated with biking, and that’s one of the biggest reasons we love it. The pansies who cannot take the dust and bugs in their stride don’t have the right to call themselves a real rider anyway. So what is VW out to prove? Every two-wheeler rider in the world should give up his steed for a relatively boring set of wheels? We don’t quite agree sir.
We are not amused by the ad, nor do we take it in a very good taste. Two thumbs down!
