Suzuki India is about to hit a sixer in a nation obsessed with the game of cricket. The much awaited Suzuki Gixxer 155 will be officially launched on the 9th of September. The motorcycle is already available with some unauthorized dealers in the city of Mumbai and the bike buying junta is already queuing up to take a good look at the bike. The Suzuki Gixxer 155 will compete against the refreshed ‘Lord of the Streets’, theYamaha FZ 2.0, the Honda Trigger and the Hero Xtreme.
The bike has spent a good amount of time in the gym, and it reflects in the way it has been styled. It will be powered by a 4-stroke, single cylinder, air-cooled, SOHC, two valve engine which displaces 154.9cc. The motor develops 14.8 PS of power at 8000 rpm and 14 NM of torque at 6000 rpm. The fuel tank will carry 12 litres of petrol and fuel is fed via a carburetor. Power is translated to the rear wheel via a 5-speed gearbox. Surprising, considering their other commuter bike, the Suzuki GS 150 came with a 6-speed gearbox. The bike features a disc and drum setup for braking. Tyre size is 100/80 – 17 up front and 140/60 – 17 at the rear, both are tubeless. A conventional telescopic unit takes care of suspension duties up front, while the rear is a monoshock. The instrument cluster is fully digital and by the looks of it, should boast of good readability as the fonts appear bigger.
