As reported by us earlier, Lotus has just taken the wraps off its new motorcycle. Dubbed as the C-01, the new Lotus C-01 motorcycle will be a street legal machine that will go on sale in its home market within a month. What we have here with us today though, are some images, specs and details of the recently unveiled Lotus C-01 motorcycle.
The latest motorcycle will be manufactured by German-owned company Kodewa, which has the licence to use the Lotus moniker for production and sales. The new Lotus C-01 motorcycle will be powered by a 1195cc V-twin motor that comes from KTM RC8R superbike and has a max power output of 200bhp. The new motorcycle has a dry weight of 180kgs.
Talking about their new motorcycle, Lotus Motorcycles has said: “The C-01 combines ample power via a V-twin engine with a distinctive body designed by Daniel Simon integrating carbon fibre, titanium and aerospace quality steel.
It may be noted that the new C-01 motorcycle has not been designed or engineered by Group Lotus but is a result of coming together of several motorsport veterans, who worked under the leadership of Kodewa, which in turn was led by Dr Colin Kolles. Also helping with the development of the C-01 was the Holzer Group , which is the co-owners of Kalex. The styling comes from renowned designer Daniel Simon.
The team of engineers that worked on the C-01’s development benefitted greatly from the experience they have in motorsports.
The new Lotus C-01 will go on sale in several color options, some of which will be seen paying homage to Lotus’ motorsports ventures. The buyers of the new motorcycle will be offered a gazillion permutations and combinations for the bike’s customization.
The fact that only 100 units of this bike will be ever produced make the upcoming bike a must have for the collectors. Price is yet to be announced.
