UM Motocycles have a strong strategy lined-up for the Indian market as the American two-wheeler brand plans to introduce a new product every six months. Speaking to the journalists at a conference held in Mumbai, UM India Director Rajeev Mishra and Business Development Director Juan Villegas confirmed that the two-wheeler maker plans to introduce a new model or a variant every six months.
So while their current offerings include the Renegade Commando and Renegade Sports S, the brand will introduce the Renegade Classic in the first quarter of FY2017-18. Following the Renegade Classic would be a new product from a completely different platform that is scheduled to arrive in July-August 2017. The details of the product were withheld for now. The end of 2017 or early 2018 is reserved for a dual purpose motorcycle which will go head-on against the Royal Enfield Himalayan and the likes. That being said, the two-wheeler maker will NOT be introducing its DSR series in India.

UM Motorcycles’ plans to introduce models in the 200cc to 600cc displacement as the company feel that the sub-200cc segment is heavily dominated by Hero MotoCorp, Bajaj Auto and TVS Motors and it would be difficult to enter that space. The company will introduce twin-cylinder engines in the future. That being said, Mishra and Villegas remained tight lipped about any further details.
UM Motorcycles will also offer customisation options to buyers which will include aftermarket silencer, handlebars and decals. Apart from accessories, UM Motorcycles will also offer apparel, merchandise and riding gear in the Indian market. The two-wheeler maker also plans to completely localise the production process and start a new manufacturing facility in India.
We hope to hear more details about the upcoming motorcycles in the near future. While we wait for that, share your views about the brand and its upcoming products through the comments section below.
