It’s party time for the folks at Honda Motorcycles & Scooters India (HMSI) as they have registered a decent performance for the month of May. The company claims to have outperformed all the other of the competition in the month. Honda has contributed 50% to total industry growth by adding 69,191 unit sales in May 2016 on YoY basis. Reportedly HMSI is the only two-wheeler company to increase their market share by 2% points. Total sales of the company grew 19% to reach 4,36,358 units in May, 2016.
Domestic sales grew 18% to 4,15,902 units in May; this feat happens to be the highest after festive sales in October 2015. Their automatic scooter sales grow a 25% to 2,68,423 units in the same month with the Activa providing the leading share. The motorcycle sales too have registered growth with the company selling 1,47,479 units. The statistics are as follows-
Exports grew by 48% and crossed the 20,000 mark (20,456 units). The domestic and export market share combined stands at 25.2% while domestic share number is 27.5%. Previously, Honda signed a MoU with IndusInd Bank Ltd. and is now associated with 3 banks offering two wheeler retail finance in India.
The company recently introduced the 2016 editions of the Dio and Activa-I with new colours & upgrades and inaugurated 5 Best Deal outlets in Varanasi, Ghaziabad, Bareilly, Karimnagar, and Nandyal. And now with the new additions the total count of Best Deal outlets is 89 across India.
