Toyota has unveiled its first electric SUV for India, Urban Cruiser Ebella. It shares its basic structure with the Maruti eVitara but brings Toyota’s own design touches and features to the table. Bookings have begun today and the launch is due to happen soon. The SUV will compete in the mid-size electric SUV space with Hyundai Creta Electric, Mahindra BE 6 and Vinfast VF6.
The Urban Cruiser Ebella is available in two battery options. The smaller 49 kWh battery provides 144 horsepower and 189 Nm of torque, while the larger 61 kWh battery provides 174 horsepower and the same torque. Toyota claims a range of 440km for the smaller battery and 543km for the bigger one, according to the ARAI cycle. Both versions are front-wheel driven.
The SUV has a compact to mid-size stance with dimensions of 4285 mm in length, 1800 mm in width, 1640 mm in height, and a 2700 mm wheelbase. Its turning radius is 5.2 meters. The Urban Cruiser Ebella sits on 18-inch aero-optimised wheels and has generous body cladding. The front has sleek triangular LED headlights with segmented DRLs, while the rear has matching segmented LED taillights. The door handles are integrated into the C-pillar.

Toyota has a total of nine colour options. Five are monotone — Cafe White, Bluish Black, Gaming Grey, Sportin Red and Enticing Silver. Four are dual-tone with a black roof — Cafe White, Land Breeze Green, Sportin Red and Enticing Silver. Toyota is also offering accessories such as side mouldings, garnishes, and rear camera upgrades.
Step inside and the focus is clearly on comfort and everyday usability. The cabin feels open and well laid out, with a fully digital driver display paired with a large touchscreen infotainment system. Smartphone connectivity is seamless thanks to wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Up front, the seats offer ventilation and electric adjustment, while the rear bench adds flexibility with sliding, reclining and split-folding functions. Ambient lighting with multiple colour choices, a JBL audio system, and a brown-and-black dual-tone interior accented with subtle silver touches complete the premium feel.

The Urban Cruiser Ebella is available in three trims. The base E1 gets the 49 kWh battery and regular features. The E2 adds a parcel tray, rear camera and wireless phone charger. The top-spec E3 includes the addition of dual-tone colours, powered driver seat, ventilated front seats, leatherette upholstery, sunroof, 360-degree camera, and Level 2 ADAS with lane keep assist and adaptive cruise control.
Safety is strong across the range. All variants feature seven airbags and disc brakes on all wheels. Higher trims include ADAS features, electronic parking brake, front parking sensors and an acoustic vehicle alert system (AVAS).
Toyota has also included 500 EV-enabled service touchpoints, an 8-year battery warranty, Battery-as-a-Service rental program, and 60% buyback assurance scheme.
The Urban Cruiser Ebella EV is manufactured in India at Maruti Suzuki’s Gujarat facility and will be available for domestic and export markets. It marks a significant step in Toyota’s EV plans, offering both urban and long distance driving capability with the flexibility of two battery sizes and multiple trims.
The bookings are open at Rs 25,000 and Toyota is expected to share the final on-road price in sometime. The SUV is designed for families and urban commuters who want space, comfort and the practical electric driving experience.
