Tata Motors have announced a price hike of 1.1% across its portfolio. The quantum of price hike will depend on the model and variant. Tata has mentioned that the hike has been carried out to partially offest the rise in input cost. This shouldn’t come as a surprise considering that almost all carmakers have hiked their prices in the begining of the new financial year. In another news, Tata will be revealing a new electric concept vehicle on 29th April.
Tata Motors: recent launches
Tata Motors recently launched the Altroz DCA at ₹8.10 lakh. It comes equipped with a dual-clutch automatic transmission mated to the 1.2-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine. Tata Motors has claimed that the gearbox has been specifically designed for the Indian conditions and it gets a lot of technology to improve its operations and also ensure long-term reliability. The Altroz DCA comes with a wet-clutch transmission. This is a smart move considering that dry-clutch DCTs tend to heat up in Indian conditions which results in a failure.
Tata claims that it gets innovative technology with 45 patents and that it is the world’s first DCT with a planetary gear system. Other features of the transmission include a Wet clutch with active cooling technology, machine learning, shift by wire technology, a self-healing mechanism, and auto park lock. The dual-clutch automatic transmission comes mated to the 1.2-liter 3-cylinder naturally aspirated Revotron petrol engine. It produces 85 hp and 113 nm of torque.
It comes mated to a 5-speed manual as standard. Other than the new Opera Blue color, the Altroz DCA will be available in Downtown Red, Arcade Grey, Avenue White, and Harbour Blue color. In terms of variants, the Altroz DCA will be available in XM+ XT, XZ, XZ(O), and XZ+. Furthermore, the Dark edition of the Altroz gets the option of DCA transmission as well. The rest of the features and specifications of the Altroz DCA remain the same as the other variants.
It is quite feature-loaded as well with selectable driving modes, a semi-digital instrument cluster, a touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone compatibility, cruise control, and automatic climate control. The generous 345 liters of boot space is right up there among the best in its segment.
