Suzuki Swift DJE showcased at 2013 Tokyo Motor Show

Japanese auto maker Suzuki has showcased a new iteration of its Swift hatchback at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show.

The new Suzuki Swift DJE (Duel Jet Engine) is an attempt to bring Formula 1 technology to regular passenger cars.

Swift DJE’s 1.2 liter K Series petrol engine comes mated to a regenerative braking and an idling stop-start system. All of this means that the engine has become more efficient than ever! Also, thanks to the new technology, JDM Swift is now entitled to tax exemptions. The Swift DJE also boasts of paddle shifters. The new Suzuki Swift JDE has managed to achieve a stupendous fuel economy of 26.4 kms per litre.

The latest Swift variant also gets a color changing speedo console. This unit changes colors as per your throttle inputs. The car also gets ESP as standard.

In Japan, the Swift is on sale in as many as seven variants– XG-DJE, XL-DJE, XS-DJE, XG, XL, special edition Swift RS, and XS.

All these trim levels can be bought with either a 5-speed MT or a CVT transmission. Also, the buyer gets to choose between 2WD and 4WD layouts.

The new Suzuki Swift DJE has gone on sale for a starting price of 1,279,950 yen (approx 7.54 lakh Indian Rupees).
