British car maker, Jaguar’s flagship luxury brand is expected to go under the knife for the upcoming variant. However, the cosmetic changes are expected to be carried out to the front and rear of the sedan. The test mules had the front and rear bumper and boot camouflaged. The latest images have surfaced from an Auto Express reader who spotted the prototype of the flagship luxury saloon being tested in UK. Revisions to the design point out towards Jaguar’s focus on the front-engine, rear-wheel drive to XJ’s underpinnings.
The images shot by John Stride in the Bwlch mountains suggest that handling and off the line, low-speed performance were possibly under consideration, pointing towards a revised chassis configuration and engine line-up. The upcoming XJ could also include the addition of Jaguar Land Rover’s new four-cylinder Ingenium engine.
Except for these minor tweaks, the design more or less remains the same. It remains to be seen what the company has to offer. We expect to hear some news from Jaguar soon as the refreshed XJ is expected to make its debut later this year, either at the Paris Motor Show in October or at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November.
