Now that Maruti is done with the introduction of its new sedan, the Ciaz, we expect the Indian car major to introduce its compact crossover, the SX4 S-Cross very soon. Maruti has been testing the SX4 S-Cross thoroughly throughout various parts of the country. Many spy images have emerged over the days but these are by far the clearest interior images of this upcoming crossover that we have come across.
The latest spy images have emerged from automotive forum Team-BHP. These spy images indicate that the dashboard of the SX4 S-Cross will be completely black with silver outlining around the air-conditioning vents. The steering wheel on the test mule in the photographs does not show any steering mounted controls but we feel that the top variants may receive this missing feature. Going further down, you can see that the gear shifter knob continues with the black theme of the interiors while the gear stalk receives the silver paint. The door mounted arm rest too receives a silver strip.

What we could not find along with the steering mounted controllers was the star/stop button. Also, on the outside, test mule did not have the mirror integrated turn indicators. We expect to see all these premium features on the top of the line model.
Internationally, the SX4 S-Cross is powered by a 1.6-litre, in-line four cylinder engine that generates 117 bhp of power and 320 Nm of torque. In India though, the SX4 S-Cross will get our acclaimed “national engine”- the Fiat sourced 1.3 litre turbo diesel motor that will churn out 90 bhp of power. The SX4 S-Cross may also receive Suzuki’s “Allgrip” all-wheel-drive system as an option.
The new compact crossover from Maruti is expected to go on sale next year and will go up against the likes of the Ford Ecosprort, Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano and other hatchbacks on stilts like the VW Cross Polo and the Toyota Etios Cross.
