Tata X451 rendered

Tata Motors has been working on various products that come under their plan of launching two models every year till 2020. Test mules of its upcoming models such as the Hexa SUV, Kite 5 sedan, Nexon premium compact SUV have been spied during their public road tests. The company is also said to be working on another model codenamed the X451. Likely to be a cross between an SUV and a premium hatchback, the offering will take on the likes of the Hyundai i20 Active.

Although there is no clear idea of what the X451 could look like, a rendering by IAB’s Shoeb Kalania depicts what the it could turn out to be. As seen in the image, the X451 will take some cues from the upcoming Tata Nexon such as projector headlamps, high ground clearance, flared wheel arches and an integrated roof spoiler.

The most prominent change on the rendered image as compared to the Nexon would be the dual tone shade makes way for a monotone paintjob. A few new bits that can be seen include a redesigned front bumper, repositioned fog lamps with chrome tips and refreshed air intakes upfront. The B-pillar features a blacked out theme while the door handle for the rear cabin has now been positioned near the C–pillar (as seen on the Chevy Beat).

Based on the company’s Advanced Modular Platform (AMP), the X451 is likely to be available with two powertrain options, a four cylinder petrol engine and a four cylinder diesel engine. It remains unknown whether Tata Motors will equip the X451 same engines that are seen on the Bolt hatchback or make use of re-tuned engines.
