From yesterday, the new government mandate has enforced all car manufacturers to provide a number of safety aids on cars as standard. While many car models received this safety update well in advance, the latest member to join this wagon comes from France. French carmaker Renault has given its Captur SUV a small update, enhancing its appeal and making a number of features standard across all variants. The prices of this SUV now start from INR 9,49,999, for the base RXE petrol variant. The top-end Platine variant comes equipped with a dual tone colour scheme as well and is priced at INR 11,99,999. If an oil burner is what you are looking for, then the SUV will cost you INR 10,49,999 for the base variant and INR 12,99,999 for the top end variant (all prices are ex-showroom, Delhi).
As mentioned, this update brings in a number of safety aids in the standard variant as well. This includes dual airbags, antilock-braking system (ABS) with electronic brake distribution (EBD), rear parking sensor, driver & co-driver seat belt reminder and speed alert chime. Other highlights of the Captur are the innovative lighting system comprising the iconic sparkle full LED headlamps with unique floating indicators, sapphire LED DRL and ripple tail lamps and a new 17.64cm Touch Screen MediaNAV Evolution with Apple Car Play, Android Auto, Eco Guide, Voice recognition. Also, available in the top end variant are premium Black and Ivory interiors along with new intricately engineered plush ErgoDesign Black Leatherette seats.

The Captur is offered with a 1.5-litre petrol engine and a 1.5-litre diesel engine as well. The petrol sipping H4K engine produces 106 PS at 5,600 rpm and 142 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. Mated to a 5-speed transmission, this engine is capable of returning as much as 13.87 kmpl (ARAI certified). The K9K diesel motor is tuned to produce 110 PS at 3,850 rpm and peak torque of 240 Nm at 1,750 rpm. Mated to a 6-speed transmission, this engine returns as much as 20.37 kmpl (ARAI certified).
