Range Rover Evoque To Get A New 1.5-Litre Engine Along With Some Electric Assistance

As per Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) boss Ralf Speth, every Jaguar Land Rover model will be electrified from 2020. Sticking to his words, the company has started using electric power to run their cars. A few days ago, they launched an electric version of the gorgeous E-Type. And now, the company has decided to add some extra electric-assistance to the upcoming Range Rover Evoque .

Jaguar Land Rover was recently seen testing the PHEV version of Evoque which was using a 1.5-litre petrol engine and a 48V electrical battery as a sidekick. The decision to make the size of the engine smaller and add an electric motor was to reduce emissions, improved performance and to match competitors like Mercedes and Audi. Land Rover had already given us a glimpse of this car in 2015.

By launching the plug-in version of Evoque, Land Rover will now have three cars ready to launch by this year which will have the electric assistance, other cars being Range Rover Sport and Range Rover. Now that every country is imposing stringent rules on emissions and to reduce carbon footprints, manufacturers are not only competing against their rivals but they are also competing against the deadlines. With Swedish automaker, Volvo deciding to electrify its entire range by 2019, Honda also pledged to introduce electric variants of all new models from 2020.
