Pagani reveals the 750+ horsepower, hardcore Huayra BC; just 20 units to be made

While the Huayra was getting a little long in the tooth in the face of the Holy Trinity, Pagani Autombili went to work on it and added a BC moniker. The name “BC” represents the initials of Benny Caiola, a person who has greatly inspired company founder Horacio Pagani over the years. Benny also happens to be the first ever customer to buy a Pagani automobile.

Pagani says that the Huayra BC is conceived in the same vein as the Zonda R and the Zonda Cinque, which means that it is primarily a road going car, but still hardcore enough for focussed track day blasts. To start proceedings, the Huyara BC sheds an incredible 135 kg over the standard car, which means that it tips the scales at just over a tonne, making it the lightest, globally homologated hyper-car.

The loss in weight can be accredited to a new titanium exhaust system which weighs just 2.9 kg; 7.1 kg lighter than stock, lightweight forged wheels that save up to 9 kg over the standard car, and a specially developed, bespoke suspension system with components forged from HiForg – a lightweight aeronautic aluminium alloy of high strength that helps achieve a weight saving of 25% compared to the suspension of the Huayra Coupe.

Other culprits inducing weight loss include Brembo’s new carbon-ceramic braking system, which is 6% lighter than stock, and an all-new 7-speed AMT (Automated Manual Transmission) developed from scratch and manufactured by Xtrac, featuring a new electro-hydraulic actuation system and new carbon fibre synchronizers. According to Pagani, the weight of the gearbox, including a brand new electronic differential, is approximately 40% lower compared to that of a dual clutch transmission of the present generation.

Power still comes from the twin-turbocharged 6.0-liter V12 engine, exclusively made for Pagani by Mercedes-AMG. However, for the Huayra BC, the engine unleashes more than 750 horsepower and 811 lb-ft of torque, whereas the new transmission, which claims to have reduced shift times to 75 milliseconds, sends power to the rear wheels. Other highlights include a Bosch ESP system with an additional mode called “Track”, and the trademark Pagani Carbo-titanium monocoque chassis with front and rear frames in steel tubes.

On the outside, the Huayra BC has been completely redesigned and except for the roof does not share a single body panel with the Huayra Coupé. Key differentiators as compared to the standard car include an extended front splitter, large front canards, new side skirts, that massive rear wing and an aggressive rear diffuser. The Huayra BC runs on P Zero Corsa in 255/30ZR20 and 355/25ZR21 sizes, wrapped around the aforementioned forged wheels which are sized 20 inches on the front axle and 21 inches on the rear axle. In a track optimised specification the Huayra BC can be equipped with the Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R on dedicated 19 inch front wheels and 20 inch rear wheels.

The interiors of the Huayra BC are even more special and follow the “less is more” philosophy. An electric parking brake replaces the previous mechanical one, saving on some additional weight. The steering wheel is now covered in suede leather, while everything else is trimmed in black anthracite colour with red highlights. Just 20 units of the car will be produced and despite being priced at €2.3 million ($2.5 million) each, all have already sold.
