I will be honest here. I have never been too fond of these paint scheme updates that Indian Motorcycle manufacturers have been regular with. While these new paint schemes do give a touch of freshness to a model, what irritates me no end is the fact that bike makers have been relying solely on these color updates and have refrained from launching comprehensively updated facelifts, complete with new/updated panels and a handful of mechanical updates. All is not grim though, for there have been manufacturers like Bajaj Auto Ltd, which have been regular with coming up with several mechanical updates for its bikes. Case in the point being the Bajaj Pulsar 180, which was first launched way back in 2001 and came with 15 hp of max power. The last update for the 180 though (the UG4), bumped up the power to 17hp, along with bringing in a new frame and several other new bits. Bajaj is also supposed to be working on the next gen 180, which is expected to be based on the 200NS. Meanwhile, Bajaj Auto Ltd has bestowed the current gen 180 with a set of new paint schemes, to keep the excitement around the aging model, until the speculated 180NS debuts. Other than the new colours, the bike seems to have remain unchanged from earlier model and the new Bajaj Pulsar 180 colours list includes-

  • Sapphire Blue
  • Pearl Metallic white
  • Cocktail Wine Red

The current gen P180 continues to be powered by the a 180cc single cylinder engine that has a max power of 17PS and peak torque of 14Nm. It seems like the new Bajaj Pulsar 180 colours have completely replaced the earlier paint options and the bike is now available with these three paint schemes only.

While we are not happy about the fact that the bike has remained mechanically unchanged, we do welcome BAL’s move of introducing these new color options for its old warhorse. The new paint schemes seem to have done a fairly decent job with endowing the motorcycle with a sense of freshness. However, we do hope that the next gen model arrives soon and prevents the current model from getting too long in the tooth. What do you feel? Also, tell us, which one of these new Bajaj Pulsar 180 colour options do you like the most? Following are images of all the three new paint options. Take your pick and let us know by commenting below
