TVS Apache RTR Spied

Video: Next-gen TVS Apache RTR 160 Spied On Test

The competition in the 160cc motorcycle segment is heating up with the recent launch of the Pulsar 160 NS and other formidable rivals in the form of the Honda CB Hornet, the Suzuki Gixxer and the Yamaha FZ-S. Now, TVS also seems set to join the foray with its Apache RTR 160.

Youtube Channel ‘The Gearhead Bureau’ have released a new spy video that shows the upcoming model from TVS on test in the wild with minimal cladding and test-equipment – suggestive of an imminent launch.

The RTR 160 closely follows the sporty styling of the bigger Apache 200, borrowing many features including the mono-shock suspension, the LED tail-lamps and the digital instrument cluster. It will also receive disc brakes up front for extra stopping power.

The smaller brother, however, is set apart by the conventional single piece seat which replaces the split unit on the 200. The side panel too, has been finished in a brushed silver look which is distinct from its elder sibling.

Enthusiasts will also appreciate the exhaust note which has a deeper rumble than the weaker whine on rivals. The power figures are also expected to be bumped up from the current 15.2 BHP to help it outgun its rivals.

Considering the price figures of the competition and the present Apache 160, the sticker price will hover around the INR 80,000 mark when it goes up for a launch by the end of 2017 or the start of 2018.
